Flying the Flag for British Excellence and Tradition

In 1993 Richard Orme began his Superyacht career working onboard the industry’s most prestigious charter and private yachts where he gained his grass roots understanding of how Superyachts operate, critically from a crew’s perspective. Working through the ranks and seeing the growth potential in the mid nineties that the Superyacht industry had, Richard came ashore to study an honours degree in Yacht and Powercraft Design at Southampton to complement his practical seagoing experience in the newly developing Superyacht markets.

With positions held as a surveyor for the Maritime Coastguard Agency (MCA), to brokering multi-million dollar commercial shipping salvage and towage agreements, Richard returned to the yachting industry as the Operations Manager at YPI, supervising the build, refit and management of their fleet of yachts.

Large Yacht Solutions was founded in 2005 as a specialist yacht consultancy providing impartial, qualified advice for yacht owners. Richard continues to lead the industry with refreshing and innovating services for Buyers, Yachtsman and their Professional Crew. Now a fully accredited corporate member of MYBA – the Worldwide Yachting Association - Large Yacht Solutions has evolved into LYS Yachts, one of the leading Superyacht Owner’s Representatives.
